Port Dickson - 06 Nov 2008
06 Nov 2008, Thursday.
Location: Port Dickson
Here we(me and Derek and his gf) are again back again with another attempt on this location. This time we picked a time when its low tide. But when we reached there it's still not low enough to do any justice. LOL Because the 1st time I came here it's lower! Much lower. Oh well, they always say better luck next time.
We had a bonus though. This time the light was just awesome. It has one of the best lights that I've ever seen. We set out around 4:40pm and luckily we reached around 6pm+. There's enough time to compose and shoot. After a few clicks later, we head home as the light was fading. I knew I'll have some good shots to bring home, glad that we came.
Gears:
18-55mm
Canon EOS 350D
Cokin P121(ND Grad), P121m, P154 x2
Manfrotto 190xPROB Tripod with 802RC4 3 way pan head
Here are the shots:

#4 is the best. It's not over contrasty as compared to the rest. U might have to watch the over darkening of the shadow areas as that makes the supposedly calm sunset into a rather gritty one. So...something u might want to take note.
Other than that, i'm not too sure abt the purple hue at the top. Did u use a purple GND filter? just curious becos the purple doesn't seem to fit in the sunset scene....
Why #4 is the best?
Simply becos, your framing of the rocks lead my eyes from the bottom to the top. It makes it a very well balanced pic. Contrast is also really good there. The mood is also there...So...Well done on that pic.

hmmm how should i put this? haha... okay ill be straight. I love very dark shadows in my shot, but i hate blown highlights. but at times, i do try to lower the contrast of the whole scene. oh well, different people have different taste, but i do appreciate your notes.nicholas_khoo wrote:#4 is the best. I use GND, and its cokin's very own. And the downside with cokin's ND filters are when you stack them up, you get purple hues.
Thanks on the comments on #4.
