My first macro outing with new ringflash
Well, I sold off my R1C1 recently and opted for a cheaper ringflash from China (probably). Pretty much looks like Rayflash so I decided to take it out for a macro spin.
I am pleased with the results and here they are. For RM250, I think it was money well spent. Didn't miss my R1C1 at all.
1. Meal time!
2. Long-legged fly. I thought I got a few usable shots, but ended up only with one thats barely usable.
3. No idea what bug is this. Assassin?
4. Kulat?
5. Another attempt at something that I can't master. Floral macro.
6. An orange skipper. I say fiery!

Re: My first macro outing with new ringflash
do you have a sample shoot of your R1C1? it wasted you changed with ring light.
Re: My first macro outing with new ringflash
I will have to agree with Zio for not missing R1C1. Rayflash and R1C1 have different outputs. Though R1C1 is a ring flash (because the speedlights will be attached to a ring), it cannot mimic the Rayflash output on the photo. Pic #1 proves this point (see those round catch lights on the eyes of the bug?) Rayflash can be use for macro, portraits, product shoots and fill light for most shoots that you may need. R1C1 is designed mainly for close up shooting minus the ring catchlight effect. And best of all, Rayflash is cheaper than R1C1. R1C1 easily cost $1,200.00 vs a rayflash for RM250...I should get one of those Rayflash someday!
