Reenactment: The Battle of Guadalcanal by Edgedale, on Flickr
Reenactment: The Battle of Guadalcanal
USMC on SAD mission
Skirting round the river band to avoid detection from the Japanese troops whom were digging in their trench and fox hole awaiting to ambush allied forces.
Taken by my trusty EOS7D with EF50mm f/1.8II, process on alfa black and white effect. Grains were retain. It was my 1st try on "war" photography.
Enjoy.

Re: War Photography
Are you serious?! Do you mind sharing the details? Is this an exercise only or really a war? Where? It is so unbelievable that we have a war photographer here! Share your experience with us! How do you find it? Tiring? Dangerous?

Re: War Photography
For me, since it's a reenactment of the event, i just took it as a event shoot. As for dangerous or not? It's not unless it is a real conflict zone like Iraq or Afghan.
Whole session is fun and tiring. The whole reenactment actors works closely with Guadalcanal war veterans and historical fan to react the true event. Terrain was indeed filled with mozzies and lotsa mozzies under the hot tropical humid weather.
It was an unforgettable experience for me tho' was few years back.
