Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
i love shooting sunset but i still think something is always missing or i left out some technical aspect of the photography from the shots.
Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
oh! i believe you will be talking about the sharpness, i think your composition is good but it is just the sharpness and also, there is no foreground subject in your shots. Am I right?

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
JayCam: haha... you've answered my doubts here!
crazycam78 & FotoTods: sigma 70-200 can never match the canon's L lens that's for sure. i bought it since the beginning of this year and i find that it has a weakness with its sharpness, unless of course you use it with flash.
anyway since we're talking about lens now, i hope to get opinion from you guys. i plan to sell off my 70-200 and get a Tamron 70-300mm f3.5-5.6 lens and maybe a wide angle lens like tokina 12-24? wat do you guys think?

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
i think you should keep your SIGMA 70-200 and get tokina 12-24, yes, i have seen good reviews on tokina lens like 12-24. you should try it yourself!

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
yes i agreed, why not you try out the lens yourself in the shop before you decide? see which one you need most right? i can't tell you what you need most except for yourself. but do go check out the reviews for these 2 lenses before you have your hands on, at least you will know what you are looking for.

ya agreed, go read up the reviews and try the lens with your camera in the shop and then take your time to decide.

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
thanx for the feedback and i'll surely lookup at the reviews. i have to sell my sigma before i can buy and i can't buy tokina w/o selling this sigma.
but i have seen close-up shots taken using the tamron 70-300 lens and i have to say it is awesome compared to my current sigma's.
reason why i got the sigma was i thought i needed it for wedding event and night reception but i came to my sense that, why need a f2.8 lens when you are going to use flash during the night?
my initial telephoto lens was to get a tamron 70-200 f2.8 but the camera shop owner told me that sigma's better cos no focusing problem with its HSM feature. no doubt, i have to admit that sigma's HSM is good where it can easily lock focus compare to tamron. but then end result, the tamron photo is sharper.

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
yea, TAMRON at f2.8 is indeed sharp, with the additional advantage over other lens that it can shoot at low light with f2.8.

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
same for me here, if get to choose between SIGMA and TAMRON, I would choose TAMRON.
well now, you have to do some research for yourself first before doing any decision.

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
for the first 4 photos, these are way much better with the long exposure. besides long exposure, is there anything else you did? any heavy pp done?

Re: Eric Kong's City, Land, Night & Sea-scapes
i love the sky colors for the first 4 photos too!
ok, for these photos right? what is lacking is a foreground subject. you need a main subject to be in the foreground to enhance the depth of your photos. maybe you can try!
just any subject, tree trunks, rocks, etc..

follow your own judgment! follow what yourself tells you!
