shoot so much and i always thought of joining competition but then in the end, i stepped back from it. i just have a feeling my photos are not up to where it consider to be a 'winning' shot yet

Why are you so pessimistic? Just give it a try. Even if you don't win, you still tried right?

I get what you mean by "unfair" here, but sometimes you have to just try it. "unfair" or not is not your problem, you don't have a problem by trying, but, the competitions may have some problems. But I know it feels good when people around recognize your photo and like it.

All these recognition thing are done by marketing or adverts. If you don't do a bit of marketing, you would not get famous or well known, this is always the case.

Ya its true as well. Without any marketing or advertising, you won't even have people enjoying your photos even if you display them in a showcase!

Yes, you are right in a way. But don't forget that so long you work really really hard, it might pay off one day. You might become famous for all we know here, so long you don't stop trying hard, just keep it going.

Yes, your super hard work will be paid off one day. Do something that not everyone can do it, you will get famous, right?

You see, there are so few people who are willing to put in the extra effort. So I think if you are willing to put that more effort in. I believe you will reap what you sow.

No matter what, just keep improving yourself constantly, even though there is no pay off in the near future, you will also gain experiences and skills for your own good.

thank you ppl for the encouraging words. my gf and frens around me did suggest to me why din i join competition. i answered them that my photos aren't good enough to enter.

my gf said that i keep comparing my photos with others' and that is why i never get satisfy with my own work but admire others' instead. and you all who follow my thread may have notice that i seldom agree that my work was good and i always suggest that something is missing in this or that photos.

Maybe it is really just not enough? You expect more from your photos.
